Norwegian Pewter sometimes have the word Tinn (spelled with two n) stamped along with other marking. In Norwegian, Tinn means pewter.
Konge-Tinn (Royal Pewter) pattern. Manufactured by Hardanger Sylvplett, of Kinsarvik, Norway, in the mid-1960\'s, and designed by Odd Leikvell, the collection is based on the best traditions of Norwegian craftmanship. The Kongetinn design is inspired by historical events from the late Viking period, almost 1,000 years ago. King Olav the Holy and many of his men sacrificed their lives for Christianity at the famous battle of Stiklestad, Norway, in the year 1,030 A.D. He was the only Viking declared a saint by the Catholic Church. The King and his men are portrayed on this unique collection with its distinctive raised pattern on the both the front and back of the handles.
The pieces are stamped \"Norway - HS Tinn Pewter\". The pieces have no condition issues, only minor scratches and wear from usage.
At one time pewter was the status symbol of such rank that the kings of old; ate from pewter plates, while lesser mortals had to put up with mere gold ones!The people of today do not put pewter flatware on their tables to prove that they can afford it, but because it is a genuine product of lasting beauty with attractive patterns.
