Get Vendio Gallery - Now FREE!Here is a very early and rare variation of the famous Navaja fighting dagger, the kind used for centuries mainly by the outlaws and street bandits of the Southern Europe, this one is likely an Italian or Spanish example dating to as early as 1600s or slightly in to the 1700s period, armed with a very vicious pointy blade of very specific configuration, leaving almost no chance of survival to the victim whose poor liver it was topenetrate, going in smoothly through any amount or thickness of close due to its hardened and extra pointy tip and overall slender and sturdy blade shape. Heavy patina throughout the blade and very cool filework to the back edge. Mounted with a brass and bull horn handle, chiseled and with symple geometric designs, showing great patina to all brass and lovely undamaged horn scales fully intact, and with a distinctive early style pommel shape. The blade opens and closes very firmly having a small stud for locking in to the opening in the steel back strap, a small ring to pull on for releasing the blade might be a later replacement and looks to be made of silvered copper. Completely solid and intact overall, stays absolutely firm and tight in any position, it\'s amazing howprecisely it has remained for nearly 300-400 years, operating just as tight and firmas the day it was made, also a very well sized example, larger and more combat efficient than many similar examples of this type.overall open 14 5/8\" blade 6 1/2\" folded 8 1/8\".
