Item #703HOZ20QAn exquisite piece of careful craftsmanship, this fine breakfront exhibits precision and perfect symmetry with most excellent timbers throughout. Crotch-mahogany planks are selected for the doors, likely all cut from the same plank; the drawers are harmonious with the center two match-booked for a flowing effect, the flanking drawers also with an opposing grain that flows outward symmetrically. The choices were clearly made carefully and with great intention, the result being quite spectacular visually. Years of waxing and gentle sunlight have mellowed the wood to a fine cognac and ruby hue, most pleasing and silky to the touch. The drawers show the crisp dovetailing of a practiced craftsman, the golden oak secondary woods joined with tiny blocks beneath the underside in a manner that allows the drawer to be incredibly light. Each drawer appears to retain it’s original brass stamped backplate and pull.

The breakdown nature of the cabinet allows it to be easily transported, the crest raising off to release the three middle sections to be lifted free of the solid lower unit. This simple method has allowed the case to remain in rather outstanding overall condition - notable is the absence of shelving in the center unit of the bookcase, but these can be easily fabricated by a carpenter. The generous use of pine as secondary woods in the backboards, utilizing a recessed panel set in grooves of tenon-mortised framing to provide incredible strength while preserving lightness throughout.

The glass throughout appears to be original and remains in excellent condition. It is an inordinately special piece with untouched structure, a visually powerful work of architecture that is such a noteworthystrike point for the study, home office or living room.

Condition Report:
Locks replaced (one key). Some repairs to drawers. Minor patches to veneers, specifically on the back edge of the case on one side, corners of doors and other small surface restorations. Wear and chipping along the bottom edges of the base molding. Early surface, not original with a wonderful mellowed cognac color. Middle section is missing shelves, several dowel pegs replaced with simple dowels. Original structure, untouched and free of any alteration. SALES TAX
Sales tax of 6% is collected on purchases by residents of Pennsylvania and any buyer picking up items locally at our shop. For clients arranging their own delivery, items must be collected by a licensed interstate carrier in order to be exempt from sales tax.

We professionally package all small items that can safely ship via FedEx, USPS, UPS and DHL for free and guarantee a safe delivery.
FREIGHT DELIVERY
Most furniture is pre-quoted for economical curbside delivery anywhere in the lower 48 States* via common freight carrier, generally arriving to most locations in 10-15 business days. Theitem is professionally packaged in-house, palletized and shipped on a tractor trailer - the pre-quote does not include lift-gate service but that service can be added for $ 65. We generally recommend a lift-gate for shipments with a total weight over 150 lbs, but this is at the buyer’s discretion. Buyers are notified by the carrier of the delivery date and must make arrangements to receive and inspect the goods: goods left unattended at a residence may not qualify for insurance coverage in the event of damage. In the event a buyer requests the shipping firm to provide any additional services (lift gate, change of address, etc.) or if the buyer requests an item to be held by the shipping firm, the buyer agrees to pay all service fees and storage fees incurred by Silla, ltd.Buyers are responsible for unpacking, moving the item into their home and disposing of all packing materials without assistance from the driver.* Some areas do not qualify for pre-quoted shipments, including residences with ferry-access, ultra-rural locations, or locations with truck access issues. It is very rare, but we reserve the right to disqualify an address from a pre-quote upon notification of your delivery address; in these situations, we will offer to cancel the order for you, see if a pickup at the nearest freight terminal is a practical option, revise a quote for your approval or offer a quote from a different carrier for your approval.
DAMAGE POLICYBecause we professionally package each item in-house, damage is incredibly rare. However, we understand thedisappointment that can occur in this unlikely event and will work hard to help you through the situation.Damage for items shipped with USPS, UPS, FedEx or DHL must be reported to us within 24 hours of signature confirmed delivery. We will require the buyer to send us photographs of the packaging and the damage to the item. The buyer will be required to have the item safely packaged again and mailed back to our shop with a pre-paid label. Once we safely receive the item, a refund will be made for the original purchase price plus shipping via the original payment method.For common freight shipments arranged by Silla, ltd., the buyer or representative of the buyer is responsible for being available at time of delivery to inspect the packaging and item for damage - under no circumstances should the item be refused, as doing so will void the insurance coverage. In the event of damage, call us immediately, note all damage on the bill of lading while the driver is still present, take detailed pictures of the damaged packaging and item, send those images to us and we will assist you in filing the claim andworking through the process. Concealed damage and/or damage not noted on the Bill of Lading will not be covered, so be sure to fully inspect the item before signing the Bill of Lading and releasing the driver. In most cases, a representative of thefreight firm will need to inspect the item and packaging so it is the buyer’s responsibility to retain all packing materials until the claim process is complete. The carrier reserves a \"right to repair\" a damaged item to industry standard. We do work hard to move claims along as quickly as possible, but please note that claims and/or repairs will be settled with the insurance company and carrier prior to any payout to the buyer.For shipments with a carrier the buyer selects or arranges, the terms of that carrier\'s insurance coverage will apply to the shipment and the buyer will be responsible for working through the claim process with the carrier.
