Up for sale is a antique solid silver Persian cigarette case in marvelous vintage condition. The case belongs to 1940\'s era and is hallmarked as being 84(Russian purity grade) or 875/1000 Grade. The case measures 4 5/8\" by 3 1/8\", and weighs 156 grams or over 5 OZ Troy ounces.
The case is unique in that on the cover side it depicts in details a poet resembling one of Omar Khayam Rubaiat illustrations,sitting in a Persian garden holding his poetry book. On the other side a complete pattern of a Persian rug is depicted with two birds of paradise in the center as medallion, facing each other in harmonious manner, surrounded by flowers and shrubs, and leaves all in perfect symmetry.
The detailed hand made artwork must have taken several weeks to master, as can be seen in the facial expression of the poet on the cover, and the total symmetry of heavenly elements on the other side.
The original holding elastic band was too frail, and I have removed it. Case is in superb condition. There is no dents, cracks, visible deep scratches, or any other flaw. The interior is in beautiful condition, and the hall marks and artist name, Eftekhari, is engraved as show.
