DescriptionVery Large and impressive 19th Century oil painting on canvas of boats in a choppy sea. A hulk is being towed under steam to its final resting place, a tribute in some senses to Turners painting of The Fighting Temeraire. This "Grand" painting has all the hallmarks in terms of style, technique and composition to the paintings of James Edwin Meadows 1828-1888. Measuring 36" x 24" and 41" x 29" in a VERY good quality later gallery frame. Unlined and in good clean condition. Crackleur and some mild cupping commensurate with age. A superb large traditional seascape, ready to hang.
