These hat stands are very good quality and date to the 19th century. They stand a little under 11 1/2 inches tall. There are some condition issues to note. There is minor wear from age and use on both, including to the gilt. On the first stand, there is noticable wear mostly to the sections of calligraphy, but also including a couple of the figures faces. There are also a few very short hairlines with one at and just inside the top rim and two at the edge of two of the openings. There are a few very minor flea bites. The hairlines and flea bites on this stand are minor and do little to detract from the overall appearance of this stand. There is a small imperfection original to the piece at the bottom of one of the figures robe. The other stand also has some overall wear from age and use including some noticable wear to the calligraphy sections. In this stand there is also a connected group of hairlines which are noticable and clearly visible in the photos. There are also a couple of very minor flea bites and one somewhat larger flake at the openings. Please take a good look at the numerous photos of both stands and feel free to ask any condition questions during this 10 day sale. I have just noticed two old pieces of scotch tape at the top of the second stand which could easily be moistened and removed. These two fine hat stands are fresh from an old estate.
