For your consideration is this very old African artifact storage container. I know very little about it, but will tell you what I know. The rest is up to you. I acquired it from a gentleman that does mission trips to South Africa. He actually got it from a tribesman there. He didn\'t remember what area it was from. The vessel or storage container is 4\" wide at the base. It tapers upward, and the rim is 2 1/2\" wide. It has its original lid and various hide straps. The interior is a hollowed out piece of wood. The lid is some type of thick animal hide. The exterior is sewn on and is also a hide or skin material. Part of it looks like possibly an alligator or crocodile. The upper white strap looks likea lizardor a reptile material. The entire container has a waxy feel to it. It is a little dirty and it has an unpleasant odor inside. I have no idea what it was designed for or what it once held. I do know that it is an original container from South Africa, and that it is very old. The tapered area is exposed wood and has notches cut in to the surface. U.S. buyer to pay $7.25 for safe packing and shipping. Don\'t miss this unique and rare old container collectors!
