Very old quilt found at an estate sale. Maybe early 1900\'s. Very heavy and made for durable use but also a decorative element of featherstitching between the blocks was employed. Squares are wool from suit material I think. Tied with pink string. Pleasing color combination. Measures 75 by 80 inches. The original maker backed it with a piece of vintage flowered fabric which can be seen through a place that is unstiched on the visible hodgepodge backing. I think at some later date someone reinforced or repaired the back with pieces of other vintage quilts and other old fabrics. On the front in the wool squares you can see the light stitches where the new backing was attached to the front. Some nice squares of vintage fabric on the old quilt areas on the back. There are some moth holes and some stains but the quilt is in surprisingly good condition, considering its age.
