Very Rare Antique Chinese Yixing Teapot Export Ware Made For Imperial Family:
Extremely rare antique Chinese Yixing teapot export ware. Circa Qing Dynasty early 1800s.
This is a large functional teapot with a tall body and long fine spout. The rim of the lid is covered in brass and has a brass knob. The rim of the body is also covered in brass.
The handle is large and functional and it is made of brass.
This was a teapot made for the Thai Royal family. It has a stamp inside the lid saying it was made for royal offerings Gong Ju (贡局). On the base are Chinese writings and I have no idea what they said.
I bought this teapot in Bangkok. I was a neighbour of Princess Bejaratana when I was living on Soi 38 on Sukhumvit Road. She was actually my land lady.
The princess was the only child of King Rama Six so she was the great aunt of the current Thai King.
When the princess was clearing out some of her collections in the 1980s I was fortunate enough to acquire a few pieces from the princess. This teapot, a personal collector's card albumof the great KingChulalongkorn (Rama V)which I sold, and a few other pieces.
The princess passed away in 2010.
The teapot is in exquisite condition. There is a small chip on the rim inside the lid which is often the case with old used teapots.
I have researched the name Gong Ju (贡局) and here's what I have found. If you can read Chinese this will be very helpful:

Extremely rare. I doubt you will find another one of this especially in Australia and may be the world.
Measurement without the handle:15.5 cm (L) x10 cm (H)
The battery is there for size comparison only. It has nothing to do with the item.
I have a fairly large Yixing zisha teapot collection. They were mostly bought in China, Hong Kong and Macau from the 1960s to the 1990s. I have been gradually sending them back to Australia over the 60 year period. The collection has become very large that they have to be stored in a self storage unit. Most are different with only a few repeats.
'Most of my collection is one of a kind. I bought the items because I liked it for myself. They were never intended to be resold. Each item has a story and when possible I hand carried in my luggage from all over the world to bring back to Australia. Some of the items have travelled a long way away and some of the items has been with me for 65 years. I am now retired and need to downsize. I will not be able to buy a similar item again and definitely not able to sell it at the same price. If you buy an item from me it most likely is the only one I have. Thanks for offerding.'
I only accept Paypal. I have a 5 business days shipping policy however if I can send earlier I will. Thank you.
I am happy to combine postage.
