I believe this is an Opal, but unsure. This appears to be handmade.
The backing on the brooch/pin is very old, it doesn\'t have the usual clasp if you will that we see now.
I don\'t know what the green stone? if it\'s a stone is made out of. Is it an enamel material? I don\'t know.
It appears to look like maybe real Gold Flakes throughout the stone? I don\'t know folks.
The clasp is in good working order.I found no markings that I could see, but this brooch/pin does have a lot of patina on it.Which I think just adds to the beauty of this item.But, it could have markings but unable to see due to the patina....but I just don\'t know folks.So please look CLOSELY at ALL pictures before buying.
This brooch/pin has a very deep green color and the gold tone color *(again I do not know if it is real gold or not inside the stone or enamel) but it sparkles in the does have some wear to this due to age and wear.
It seems there are some tiny parts of the green stone (again I don\'t know if it is a stone) has flaked off or what.
Also there is a very thintiny scratch or a tiny thin crack downthe middle of the stone.But, after it is said and done folks, you have to ask yourself....How many have I seen like this and it\'s age etc.I feel this item still has life and a story to tell.
