This is a very unusual piece imported from the village of Tinajas, Mexico. It is an exquisitely-carved mask made from a very hard wood. There is a bird head featured in the center which is surrounded by snakes, alligators and fantastical, otherworldly creatures. This mask is older and shows signs of use as you can see in the photos.
