Very Rare Massive Antique Round Barrel Screw Key Padlock 18th Century?:

This is a very rare and very large early padlock, probably 18th century, constructed using the same principle as old handcuffs with a screw-in key. It is robustly made and is a heavy item at over 800 gm unpacked and is fully functional. The lock is released when the key is completely screwed in - slightly less will not open it. It measures 16 cm wide and is 12 cm top to bottom and 9.5 cm across the handle. The key is 5 cm long and the handle is 5 cm diameter. It is in very good aged condition although the key has suffered a sideways knock a long time ago leaving it slightly off vertical and with a little damage around one side of the base of the handle shown clearly in the last two pictures- there is no indication that this has weakened the key at all but I think it would be unwise to try to straighten it.
