VERY RARE & UNUSUAL Antique \"MEMORIAL TO LOTTA\" Crazy Patchwork Quilt From Massachusetts Estate, c.1890

DESCRIPTION:Very rare antique \"MEMORIAL\" CRAZY QUILT. Scans show it all. Great crazy quilt style of the period, made of velvet and silk pieces. Pieces are hand sewn together. Great colors and the beautiful feel of the velvet and silk fabrics. These were particularly popular in the 1890\'s.

This one is particularly rare as it is a MEMORIAL QUILT. Has the name LOTTA with a cross on one piece, some hearts, 2 upside-down horseshoes (symbolizing bad luck), a number of nice hand-embroidered design patches, and various other interesting designs and pieces, as shown.

A particularly early quilt, c.1890, which is always nice, and made of period antique fabrics. OVER 120 YEARS OLD!!! There is some wear/fraying in some of the pieces of silk fabric. Silk material is obviously fragile and often did not last well on these crazy quilts after so many years. Any frayed pieces can be repaired or replaced if desired, using other silk fabric.

HAS GREAT DESIGN FEATURES AND DETAILS, with 6\" fans in the corners and outside as shown, and a quadruple fan circle in the center.

Nice looking quilt, even as is, for use, for display, or for a background for a period collection. Also of course, could probably be used in craft projects or for cut-up items.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN A MEMORIAL QUILT BEFORE. IT WAS POSSIBLY MADE AS A PRESENTATION TO THE FAMILY. Have you ever seen one?! This may possibly be your only chance to get such a piece.

I have not laundered this and preferred to keep it just as it came from the old attic. Obviously, the buyer can wash if desired.
