WHY IS IT CONSIDERED RARE?
The 6139-7010 is the rarest of the JDM Seiko Speed-Timers. But why? Produced in 1970, Sport chronographs were all the rage. It seemed every major player in the watch industry had a sport chronograph and Seiko was no exception. The bulk of these came with applied markers and with rather bland (in my opinion) dials. But in a rather limited run (a couple years) Seiko made the Arabic dialled version which was designed and worn by an elite Japanese special forces unit. To add to the rarity of its limited production run, they weren’t sold to civilians and only given to the Japanese market.So, to recap. In order to have gotten one new, you would have had to have been an elite Japanese special forces member, in the 1970’s, between roughly 1970-1973 (when they were marking this model)….To drive home my point, from a more modern perspective,
