Very fine Syrian Islamic Damascene Damascus Cairo-ware silver inlay Bowl 1880:

Exceptional quality, antique Cairo-ware inlayed Bowl - circa 1880.
Done in Syria in the late 19th Century inMameluke revival style.
The Bowl is small but the quality of work is exceptional - the base metal is bronze, profusely hand-chased / engraved in very tight, elaborate designs in Islamic taste - each design or calligraphy \'window\' is framed by an inlayed silver wire.
The bottom center with a small flower (possibly the artist\'s mark) surrounded by intricate designs and inlayed with silver dots - similar dots on the other designs.
Very appealing work by a gifted artist - it would make a super addition to any collection.Excellent condition - gentle age ware, loss of gilt inside - please view pictures.
It measures 12.8 cm in diameter x 5/1 cm tall.
