Very rare CHESTER made SILVER MEAT SKEWER with CAST SHELL TERMINAL Georgian 1770:
$447.61

We are offering for sale a very rare Georgian silver meat skewer made in Chester.

This very rare silver meat skewer was made in Chester during the 1770\'s. It bears the \"RR\" makers mark of Richard Richardson and although it lacks the date letter and Chester city mark (typical on these items), it does have the distinctively shaped lion passant mark with flat lower edge and \"RR\" is a scarce combination of letters for a makers mark. The maker\'s mark is not clearly stamped (the \"R\" looks like a \"P\" due to a poor punch!), but bya process of elimination the marks must be \"RR\" andMaurice Ridgway in his books on Chester silver also noted similar skewers by this maker.

This long skewer has a good crisp cast shell just below the fingerloop terminal and is in excellent condition.
