This is an exceedingly rare specimen, a Phenix pocket watch with a true 24 hour movement. I have been trying to find more information about this watch as I had never seen one before, and have found two more existing in the world; one is owned by a private collector and one belonged to a Finnish military officer and now sits in the Finnish Artillery Museum. Of the three I know of, this one is in the best condition. (The Finnish one can be seen on the Wikipedia page for Phenix!)
The dial is near-flawless. The coating is nice and even and shiny, the numbers are sharp and clear.
The movement winds, sets and runs fine. However I think the hands might contact each other (probably one is ever so slightly bent) as it\'s stopped a couple of times in the same position. Have not tested power reserve or accuracy, but checked time after a few hours and it hadn\'t drifted noticeably. However I have no information as to its service history, so as with most vintage/antique watches I would highly recommend a proper movement service if it\'s to be used on a regular basis. I have looked for information about the movement itself; at first I wondered if it might have been sourced from another manufacturer but it does have the Phenix microlisk stamped on it so it has to be a genuine Phenix made one.
The only fault I can find otherwise is that the dial screws are broken or missing. The dial is attached well so it\'s possibly the heads are sheared off or they were simply removed and dial dots were used to hold the dial in place at some point.
It is a beautiful, most unusual piece, but I rarely use a pocket watch and the watch cabinet is getting awfully crowded. Hopefully someone else will use and enjoy it; it may be quite old but there is no reason it should just sit and collect dust!
The case is approx. 50mm in diameter.
