A fabulous Victorian brooch with a 14K gold elaborate bezel surrounding a well executed miniature floral still life painting. The gold tests 14K, there are no marks. The flowers are very life-like, particularly the peonies in the center. The back of the painting is cultured mother of pearl with a fancy old monogram. The clasp has been changed from the original C clasp to a later, more secure clasp. There is a bit of flaking at the top of the brooch, but otherwise, it is in very good condition. The painting appears to be on paper. Circa: 1870. Dimensions: Width: 2 1/4\", Length: 1 7/8\", Weight: 17.2 grams.
