he Dunkirk Medal was first made available to Veterans of the Dunkirk evacuation and later administered by the disbanded Dunkirk Veterans Association.

It was Created by the French National Association of Veterans of the Fortified Sector of Flanders and of Dunkirk and awarded in recognition of the sacrifice of 30,000 combatants between 29th May and 3rd June 1940.

Good quality locket from around the turn of last century. It has a horseshoe on the front and intricate tooling on the reverse. The front and back are 9ct gold, the frame is yellow metal. Inside, there are two places for photographs, including one glass cover. The chain (18\") and bail are gold plated. It is in beautiful condition. The locket measures 3.4cm by 2.8cm.
