This is a very interesting Victorian antique pewter beer tankard which has a capacity of one quart. It is marked with the Uniform Verification number \"396\" which was used in Hertfordshire in 1882. The base is engraved \"Swan Studham Hertfordshire, and the front is engraved with initials which may read \"WS\". If this is in fact the case, then it is likely that this tankard belonged to a Mr William Smith, who was licencee of The Swan from 1876-1899 (according It is offered in very good antique condition, is approx 6.5\" (16.5cm) tall and measures 4.75\" (12.1cm) across the top.
