Victorian Greek Revival sterling silver tea set. Made by Walter and Charles Sissons in London in 1868. This set comprises coffeepot, creamer, and sugar. Each: ovoid amphora body on raised foot, short neck, flared mouth, and high-looping handles (coffeepot handle leaf-capped). Coffeepot spout s-scroll and creamer spout v-form. Coffeepot cover hinged and raised with vase finial. Creamer and sugar interior gilt. On exterior is an engraved frieze on satin-finished ground in style of ancient pot with cavaliers and jug-bearers. Ornamental bands and beading. An elegant adaptation of Classical form and motifs. Hallmarked.
