This is another fabulous estate piece...a lovely Victorian 925 sterling silver curb link bracelet with a lovely etched or stamped link with a repousse padlock heart clasp. This piece has no key attached so therefore one would have to find the key or add a sterling clasp. The links are wonderfully decorated.

The story of the padlock bracelet is one that seems to have a little history and a little folklore surrounding it as it is said that the reason these bracelets were given was because one wanted their lover or wife to know that they loved them signified by the heart shape. While the other part of the story denotes \"claim\" in stating that when a gentleman, suitor or husband went off to war or to travel afar, he would leave the bracelet locked around her wrist and he would hold the key until he got back. This symbol of love would show other gentlemen that the woman\'s heart was taken.

The bracelet measures 7 5/8 inches end to end to include the heart padlock and the curb link chain measures 6 7/8 inches long which would allow a clasp to be added and fit up to a size 6 inch wrist only.

Rich patina as shown that will be left up to the buyer to polish if so desired. The padlock is marked or stamped \"STERLING\" on the backside but I can find no maker\'s mark or hallmark. 10.8 grams
