Victorian Renaissance Revival Walnut Armoire Wardrobe~ Carved Fruit~with Key Circa1875
Being offered for sale is thisfabulous American Victorian Renaissance RevivalWalnutArmoire / Wardrobe withA Fancy Carved Crest, beautiful carved fruit on the doors and aworking key circa 1880\'s.This handsome 19th century armoire offers a tremendous amount of storage and features a wide crown molding, fabulous carved pulls on the drawer withdove-tailed joinery,and the original casters intact on the base.
This fine 19th centuryVictorian armoire measures 98inches in height to the top of the carved crest(8 ft2 in.),height without the crest in place is 88 inches, total widthis51 inches,with a total depth of19 3/4inches and this armoire weighs approximately 200 lbs but does dis-assemble into 9 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving.
This Victorian armoire has all the charm and elegance one expects in Victorian pieces of the 19th century and is in wonderful antique condition for being over 135 years old.The key works the lock on the doors but the lock on the drawer appears stuck. The inside features 9 antique double hat /coat hooks on the left side back and each one has the initial \"S\" at the center, above the hooks is a shelf for storage, and to the right a small rod is intact at the top for handing clothes.There is an old repair to the left door at the top which I have shown a close-up of in the pictures,and each side of the base does have an age shrinkage crack...nothing major in my opinion but there and common in old wood. This tall Victorian Renaissance Revival armoirehas a gorgeous presence and would be a fine addition to a Victorian bedroom for extra storage space, or add shelves inside and this would be fabulous for folded linens and towels in a large master bath.
