This is a very interesting Victorian or could even be a little earlier Masonic jewel... as you can see it is on a very tatty pale blue ribbon .... as well as that the top bar has the steel pin broken off... and you will also see one of the BALL sphere ends ...bottom left is missing.. looking now to the top of the jewel.. it has thin copper wire thru a small hole in the very top SPIKE of the jewel... then its attached to aproper suspension loop but has a rounded top ball only as well.. I can see the bottom of the flat backed suspension part is too broken off.. so something must have been attached here initially and this is a terrible repair job.
The top and bottom bars are very ornate.
Turning the jewel over it says on the back either I.J.C. or J.J.C. SILVER and the silversmiths initials again... so it has NO date....neither does it have a lodge name.
It has had something sewn onto the ribbon too... now long since lost.
It has been about 4 and a quarter inch long x nearly 2 inch wide... the jewel is not flat.... the top bar is 1 and half inch wide.
