A medium sized silver trinket box. The ornately decorated lid has two mermaids supporting a shield on which the initials T & M are softly engraved in gothic script. The mermaids have wings so they may be cherubs with tails.
The condition of the box is good with no dints or splits. There are however 3 small piercings in the raised decoration due to polishing. The hinge is sound but has play in it due to the design. The box has upper and lower pie crust edges, an ornate hinge and a raised rib design to the lower half. Hallmarks are for London 1887. Silversmiths Samuel Walton Smith. Street quality at High Street prices.
