Victorian Turquoise Blue Enamel & Seed Pearl Silver Gilt Locket Austro Hungarian:

On offer is this lovely Victorian Austro-Hungarian silver gilt locket, c1880.The mark/indentation to top hoop is difficult to decipher; however I believe it is the silver mark for the Austro-Hungarian Empire used between 1867 and 1922.This would indicate a silver fineness of .750.The case is enamelled in turquoise blue; the centre front being inlaid with a 7 pointed star, set with 8 seed pearls in a \'floral\' array. The bail is also enamelled in the same colour.The locket has 2 compartments; there are 2 inner frames with some warping and no glass.Closes securely with a click.In good overall antique condition; there is some loss/damage to enamelling but it is mainly on the outer rim of the locket plus some to bail. The 17 photos included give a good clear indication of these areas.The enamel has a matt rather than glossy finish.Measurements: 2\" by 1.2\" (including fixed ring & bail).Weight: 23.26gms.All photographs should be be supersized for full, clear detail of item on offer and its condition. They are a major part of the description.These lockets are incredibly collectable; the blue enamel being especially desirable. They never stay around long!!
