This is a Victorian ‘Hatching Chick on a Sleigh’ covered milk glass dish, made during the late 1800s by the Westmoreland Specialty Glass Company. Remnants of the once brilliant gold paint remains in places on both top and base. The inside edges of the runners display the transparent golden glow that is prized by milk glass collectors.Assembled, the piece measures nearly 4” tall and is 5 1/4” long and 3 1/4” wide. The top is in excellent condition with no damage. The base is also in wonderful condition, but does show a (hard-to-detect) typical cooling hairline along a runner and a small sliver off the end of one runner (see last three photos). The piece is in solid condition, with thick glass that shows typical straw marks in the glass from processing during this era.We always pack well and charge actual shipping costs. Please ask any questions before offerding and thanks for looking!
