A beautiful early Victorian papier mache tray, this tray is huge and highly decorative in the sumptuous black laquerware manner with heavy gilt painted scrolling rim and the most beautiful hand painted floral spray inlaid with delicate sections of mother of pearl.

It may well have been used as a serving tray, a tray for ones dressing room or just as a decorative piece, these pieces are without a doubt works of art on there own and this is one of the largest examples I have seen.

This tray does exhibit some chips in the rim, one is around an inch triangle bite, these are mostly visible from the underside, could be restored, there is a few very old repairs, the gilding is bright and beautiful and the paintwork is still vibrant and colourful.
