MODEL DESCRIPTION: The Victorinox Horticultural knives are a group of extremely tough knives, sold mostly to professional florists and agricultural workers. The blade is made of a stainless steel alloy that is harder than regular Swiss Army knives, so it holds an edge for longer, and stands up to constant use in greenhouse or field. It is also great for plain old home gardeners! Unlike most knife blades, the horticultural blades are sharpened on one side only, and have a flat face on the other side. That makes them popular for crafts work, since you can slide the flat part along a straightedge and get a very precise cut on leather, balsa, plastics or other soft materials. Also useful when cutting live plants, since it won\'t crush the plant tissues on the live side.

Victorinox has gradually retired the Horticultural models, starting in the late 90s and continuing until the last was eliminated in 2014. This knife is one of the least common models. It has black scales and brass liners, and an extremely narrow Wharncliffe blade, with a flat cutting edge, and a gradual taper on the back. We have not yet found a name for this configuration (catalogs provided by Victorinox just show model numbers, and only a few versions were named and sold to civilians). It would be perfect for precise, intricate carving of any soft material.

CONDITION: This is a new knife from a box of 10 \"old stock\" knives that we purchased straight from a Victorinox distributor. It appears new, and has the original knife oil, but we did handle it a bit to take photos.

The body is 100mm (4 inches) long, with a single 65mm (2 5/8\") blade. The knife weighs 47.7 grams (1.7 oz). Its black nylon scales are thicker and tougher than other Swiss Army knives, and are held together by tough brass rivets.
