Viking Seax Knife 10\" BLADE Bladesmith / Blacksmith Made Custom Carved Sheath :
$234.95

The Seax was used by the Vikings and other indigenous people of Northern Europe as an all around utility knife. They used it for everything from eating with it, to using it as a back up weapon to their sword. It would be great for hunting, camping, fishing or reenactments.
This Viking Seax or Scramaseax has a hand forged broken-back blade made from 5160 Spring Steel which is a high carbon steel. The blade is 10 inches long with a razor sharp edge. It is 1/4\" thick and has good weight to it.It has a very beefy solid feel to it and is virtually indestructible. You can pierce a car door and shave with it.It is razor sharp.Immediately after forging the blade it was normalized to refine the grain structure. The blade was edge hardened after which it was tempered. The edge hardening was done by heating the blade to 1500 degrees and then dipping just the edge of the blade oil. These processes balance both toughness and edge-holding ability and created a durable blade with a razor sharp edge.
This Seax has a full tang for a stronger knife. The handle is Arizona Desert Ironwood, it fits in the hand nicely. The sheath has a Raven stamped into it. It is made of high quality thick vegetable tannedleather and was made for horizontal carry along the lower back. The knife will not slide out, its tight in the sheath. The sheath was form fitted to the blade.I take pride in making my knives and each one is handcrafted taking numerous hours to complete. Everyone is unique and one of a kind with minor imperfections inherently found on handmade items. Proudly Made is the USA. Check out RavenForge.us
