Vintage 100 Silver Plate Austria Coat of Arms Travel Shield Enameled Charm.

Osterrich is the German name for Austria.  This coat of arms of Austria, without the broken chains, has been in use by the Republic of Austria since 1919. It was replaced with a double-headed eagle upon the German annexation in 1934. The establishment of the Second Republic of Austria in 1945 saw the return of the original (First Republic) arms, with broken chains added to symbolise Austria\'s liberation. 

The symbols and emblems used in the Austrian arms are as follows:

  • The Eagle: Austria\'s sovereignty
  • The escutcheon Emblem of Austria
  • The mural crown: The middle class
  • The sickle: Agriculture
  • The Hammer: Industry

Charm is marked with Antiko and 700 on the backside.  It tested positive for silver.
