This is the earliest version with raised fingerboard, maple neck, white pickguard. No serial number, or FON. This is a player grade instrument as it has been damaged, and had extensive repair. Top has a couple cracks but mostly pick marks, and top is warped near the treble side of the sound hole (see pics). Back of the guitar shows the most damage with several long cracks, sides are in good shape, no neck breaks. Original black finish shows lots of wear, and some areas the finish is worn through.
As far as repairs go the back was removed, and all the cracks were cleat repaired from the inside, also all the bracing was completely re-glued. Neck has been re-set as well as re-fretted with medium gage wire, replaced rosewood pyramid style bridge, new re-issue tuning machines. Ships in Heavy duty Canadian made hardshell case.
This thing plays, and sounds fantastic IMO. Wide V neck profile, great for finger-style. Neck is straight, truss rod works, and with the raised fingerboard you can easily play all the way up the neck. Very lightly braced guitar with that wonderful loud tone the X braced L 00 is known for. Far from collector grade, but a true American relic.
