I did research these shoes in my large vintage fashion catalog collection in order to find the correct time period for them.
Judging by the rounded toe and thick post-like heel, these shoes most likely date from the mid to late 1940\'s and into the very early 1950\'s.
As you can see in the photos, these shoes have been worn, but they are still in good enough condition to wear. You won\'t have to worry about ruining a museum piece if you decide touse these.
They have some condition issues, but they also have positive characteristics:
- The leather is smooth, supple, and free of cracking or flaking.
- The sock is still firmly attached to the footbed.
- Both buckles still function.
- There are minor scuffs, nics, and small discoloration from wear and use.
- The leather soles are scuffed and scratched.
- There are worn and brown spots on both socks.
- Amazingly, the delicate gold lettering is still legible on each sock.
These shoes have a standard of 6 1/2. However, I have taken extra measurements to help determine a proper fit:
- The length of the footbed from the tip of the toe to the edge of the heel on the inside of the shoes is 9 3/8\".
- The width of the ball of the toes on the sole of the shoe is 3\".
