Offered here is an antique or vintage hand-painted tile dating from the mid-1950s, when art collector Maurice Duchin commissioned tiles from artists such as Salvador Dali and others. Almost certainly manufactured by Valencian tile maker ADEX, who made the Dali tiles.
The design is a bright and cheery blue and yellow design with abstracted architectural elements such as finials and possibly iron work. The back is still mostly covered by its original cork, with the stamped Maurice Duchin name. The tile measures 7 7/8\" x 7 7/8\" square; 3/8\" thick.
Condition is excellent vintage, nearly perfect: a few tiny tiny edge flecks and several very light glaze lines. Surface is gorgeous and glossy. Really gorgeous!
