This beautiful silver and turquoise Squash Blossom Necklace
was acquired in Ruidoso, New Mexico,
while traveling the Southwestern United States
sometime during the late 1960\'s.Additional provenance is available for the new owner.Turquoise is the birthstone of December.It is believed that turquoise tends to bring good fortune,
strength and helps overcome illness.Native Americans have prized turquoise since the time of the Aztecs,
who mined it in New Mexico.This vintage necklace has spent the majority of the last 50+ years
safely stored away in a vault.It was lovingly and artfully crafted using Mexican silver and native turquoise,
and due to the emphasis on the large stones, rope-work and wire design,
it is believed to be of vintage Navajo workmanship.There are a total of ten turquoise squash blossoms, five down each side,
and the Naja features seven additional gorgeous aqua blue stones.
(total of 17 stones)All of the vintage stones are very nicely matched, with beautiful matrix,
and are surrounded with silver metal rope work.
(different backgrounds were used to better show its true color)The weight of this necklace is approximately 205 grams, or 7.3 oz.,
and is made up of round unmarked silver beads that have a diameter of 1/4\". There are 15 single-stranded beads on each side,
plus 100 double-stranded beads for a total of 130 silver beads.It measures approximately 28 inches, without the Naja included.
(Naja is approx. 3 3/4\" x 3 3/4\")It is unmarked, which is not uncommon on these older vintage pieces,
uncleaned with normal patina for its age, as some prefer the original patina,
and would make a wonderful gift for that special someone
or simply enjoy wearing it yourself.Thank you for looking,
