Vintage Borgana Coat

I\'m a little hesitant to call this coat \"faux fur\" because it was not thought of as a cheap imitation of fur back in the 1960\'s, but rather as something very fabulous in its own right. It is by Borgana, and it is made of what they refer to as a \"Borg fabric\" (a special note to Star Trek fans - fear not, this coat has no cybernetic capabilities). This Borg fabric was not meant to trick anyone into thinking you are wearing fur; it is a super-plush, incredibly soft fabric that has a luxurious feel to it. Many of the old, worn-out Borgana coats were made into stuffed animals by their owners, because it has the texture of a wonderfully cuddly teddy bear. These coats were very popular with the younger crowd (teens to late 20s) back in the 60\'s; they didn\'t want the same type of fur coats worn by their mothers and grandmothers. They wanted something special, and more fitting of the modern times. That is also how they ended up in an array of beautiful colors, such as this dark emerald green.

This double-breasted coat still has all of its original buttons, and is in excellent condition. The lining has a satiny sheen and is also in excellent condition. The original Borgana tag and the union tag are still present, but there is no size tag. I would call this a modern medium. Laying flat, it measures 20 inches from shoulder to shoulder, 23-1/2 inches from armpit to armpit, 23 inches across the waist (and it stays 23 inches across down to the bottom), the sleeves are 18 inches long, and the total length is 39 inches from where the collar begins. This coat was made in the USA.
