PLEASE READ: The jewelry I am listing is from an extensive collection purchased by my late sweetie (and/or her mom) on vacation trips to New Mexico (and the Southwest in general) during the \'60s and \'70s.
PLEASE NOTE: THESE AREALLAUTHENTIC NATIVE AMERICAN PIECES PURCHASED DIRECTLY FROM THE ARTISTS, EITHER IN THE SQUARE AT SANTA FE, OR AT THE INDIVIDUAL PUEBLOS. THESE ARE GENUINE NATIVE AMERICAN WORKS OF ART IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WHICH HAVE REMAINED IN THE FAMILY EVER SINCE THEY WERE PURCHASED!
These pieces have spent the majority of their lives safely stored in plastic bags with pieces of chalk to deter tarnishing. My late mom-in-law learned that trick long ago and instilled it in us, thus these pieces all look essentially \"new\". Very few have been fully \"cleaned\"...most are just CLEAN from having been sealed away from oxidation throughout these last 40+ particular listing is for one of several combination brooch pin/pendants in our collection, this one featuring both overlay technique as well as an inlay turquoise roadrunner. This can be worn either as a pin, or can become a necklace, with the addition of the appropriate chain.
The pin/pendant is right at 2\" across. It is convex, with the center being about 3/16\" high. The inlay work on the roadrunner is very precise and beautifully done. The overlay work is also wonderfully done, with high mesas suggested with a single cut line, a saguaro cactus, and the roadrunner\'s legs and feet, and other touches.
PLEASE SEE ALL THE PHOTOS...with this piece being as 3-dimensional and convex as it is, \"good\" photos are very difficult to take...I\'ve tried to show it from as many different focus points and light conditions as possible, to give you an idea of just how complex the piece really is.
I am including a 30\" Italian Silver chain, one of those that the \'70s Native artisans sold alongside their own creations. I have a large inventory of these vintage Italian Silver chains, all from the mid-\'70s, so they are a truly \"contemporary with the piece\" addition. They were bought at the same time as the rest of the pieces, from the Native artisans themselves. I\'ve chosen a \'twist chain\' to go with this particular pendant, it complements the design well.
The final photo shows how this piece has spent the majority of its life, tucked away in a plastic bag with a piece of chalk to deter oxidation and tarnish.
This combination pendant/brooch pin would make a wonderful little stocking stuffer gift for someone!
