Vintage 2-Strand Native American Navajo Turquoise Nugget Necklace ~Old Jaclas~:

This sale is for a gorgeous vintage 2-strand Native American Navajo chunky turquoise necklace with wonderful old jaclas. The nuggets are somewhat flat and stand out nicely among the brown & white heishi shells used as spacers. There appears to be several varieties of turquoise which makes the necklace especially nice for turquoise lovers. There colors vary from quite green to blue-green to blue. There is a very nice matrix on many of the nuggets. The jaclas are obviously old and include blue, green and blue-green turquoise. There are four coral beads at the top of the jaclas and white shell in the center of the hanging jaclas. The jaclas have been tied on the the necklace as is common in older necklaces. They cannot be removed. There are sterling silver cones with a hook & eye closure at the ends of the necklace. The hook may have a marking but I cannot make it out.
I don\'t see any chips or cracks in the tuquoise nuggets or the heishi beads in the necklace. The clasp is in good condition and holds the necklace securely. There could be little chips on the necklace from being worn in the past. The round turquoise in the jaclas have a number of chips but seem to be secure on the jacla. The depth of the turquoise in the jacla varies which gives a wonderful old look to the jaclas. They are probably hand cut.
My mother purchased the necklace with jaclas in NM in the early 1950s as I recall. It was vintage when she purchased the necklace and was in very good condition. She wore the necklace infrequently since it was part of her collecting. I have also worn the necklace infrequently although it is one of my favorites. The necklace is in very good vintage condition.

Traditional old Native American necklaces with old jaclas are difficult to find and this one is in quite beautiful. The colors will look great with many outfits. This necklace would be a great addition to a collection of Native American art & jewelry.
