The thunderbird form by Frank Vacit has been well documented and though unsigned this piece is undoubtedly his work and guaranteed to be authentic. Pieces were rarely signed in those times. Valued as much as $1500. The bolo measures 3\" H x 1-3/4\" W. The inlaid portion of the tips measures 2\" H x 3/4\" W. The tips with their inlaid portion are 2-7/8\". The tie, which is still flexible, measures end to end with tips at about 37\" total. This piece dates to the 1940s and predates the Bennett style closures. It has runners of silver that hold the tie in place and these are functioning well with the current tie. The bolo is a great size and it\'s in great vintage and collectible and wearable condition. The normal wear is attractive and the color variations for the turquoise particularly stunning on this bolo, which is unsigned, which is usual for that period of time and not marked for silver content. Of course it is authentic and it is at least coin silver, probably sterling silver. The piece is unsigned and not marked for silver content, typical of those times, but this is guaranteed to be Frank Vacit\'s work and to be at least coin silver at .900 silver or sterling silver at .925 silver. Frank Vacit\'s work of this vintage and quality sells for thousands of dollars in the galleries. Frank Vacit was born in 1915, lived till 1999, and worked from the 1930s. He was one of the most talented and great artists in Zuni history. His work resides in the best galleries and museums and he is discussed in every major work. His pieces fetch the highest prices, justifiably. This bolo is very beautiful and is highly collectible. This is a treasure that would suit all collections and is beautiful to wear.
