Superb, this is a fabulous musical powder compact by AS Brown under the trade name MASCOT - c.1950 it is in lovely condition, the top is excellent depicting an array of Jazz musicians, internally is very clean, with an inner opening lid revealing a fitted sifter, an unused lipstick case, indeed the original lable "Thorens" Swiss Movement and the tune "The Night They Invented Champagne" is still present, the musical movement is inworking order but running a little fast and will need attention. A lovely clear mirror. It is engine turned to the base, measuring c. 4" inch x 3" inch, it is in really lovely order, the only thing worthy of note, is that the inner lid catch does notalways engage first time and needs a little persuasion, the lid closes and it does not detract in any way, but I mention for accuracy - this is lovely and will certainly not disappoint the most discerning of collectors.
AS Brown started manufacturing powder compacts signed ASB in the 1940s. They began using the Mascot trademark in 1950. A top quality manufacturer, famous for their high end novelty compacts the Company aquired the Kigu Co. in 1977.
