Wonderful condition! All original, these Cast Brass Acorn Design Sleigh Bells are from the 1800\'s well before bells were eventually stamped from sheet metal. These solid brass cast sleigh bells have a GREAT sound. They are quite heavy with a nice patina. There are 2 sizes. The larger is approx. 3\", and the \"smaller\" bells are 2 3/4\". They are firmly attached to the leather. When you hear them you can picture the horse-drawn sleigh dashing through the snow. The leather strap has a buckle to attach to the harness. Overall the strap is 17+\" long by 3 1/2\" wide. There 2 layers of leather which shows normal wear and nice patina from years of use. It is very sturdy and heavy.
Sleigh bells were practical as well as decorative. Sleigh bells warned pedestrians and other drivers of other activity and were also a beautiful addition to the horse\'s harness.
Would be a super nice decoration for Christmas or any time of year as a primitive decoration.
