This is a pair of two Vintage Antique Primitive Folk ART Native or South American Indian Female Dolls - two mothers with babies.

Named \"Chancay dolls\" after the Chancay culture from the central coast of Peru, these dolls were often found in graves, they were an important part of ancient burial tradition.Many of these textile dolls remain preserved and are on display in museums.

These dolls are newer.They are reproductions of dolls from Pre-Colombian civilizations of the north coast of Peru. Women from nearby areas dig up antique textiles and make replicas.Newer models have embroidered faces, whereas older versions\' faces were woven within the fabric. The newer, vintageChancay dolls, were made in last century and still arehighlycollectible

They aremade from what looks to be corn husks underneath and covered with burlap or cheesecloth type of material.

These handcrafted rag dolls are made with wonderful natural dyes antique fabrics as you can see from the pictures
