Rare, excellent, and highly collectible Royal Doulton Hiawatha SeriesWare Native American Indian Chief plate, early 20th century, circa 1908-1938.
The center displays a rich and colorful portrait of a Native American Indian chief, surrounded by an elaborate uncolored border of tepees, landscape, and clouds. Around the lower edge is this verse from Henry Wadsworth Longfellow\'s epic poem, The Song of Hiawatha: \"On his head his eagle feathers. Round his waist his belt of wampum.\"

This plate is approximately 10\" in diameter and is in immaculate antique condition, undamaged, with no chips, no cracks, and no repairs. Fine cleancrazing consistent with the age of the plate.
Royal Doulton Hiawatha SeriesWare plates in great condition are nearly impossible to find, especially the earlier ones with the uncolored border. I\'ve done an exhaustive search, and this plate is the only one of it\'s kind for sale anywhere online. The starting offer price is substantially lower than it\'s value.
