I am not a hat expert, but I have a nice lot of very vintage hats that I am currently listing individually. I believe that this bonnet is Victorian or Civil War Era. The inner lining is silk. I am not sure what the other material is. It is very sheer and airy and feels almost like very fine straw. There are black sequins each one having a small black bead in the center of it. The sequins and bead go around in a pinwheel pattern. This hat sits at the very back of the head and has long ribbons that tie under the chin. There is a gathered ribbon trim at the front on each side that loops under the hat and becomes the long tie. The inner silk lining is in good condition for the age. It has a small ribbon in the center that looks like it could have been pulled to adjust the fit. There is a small string tag attacked to this that looks old. I left it attached.The entire hat is built over a birdcage type of heavy wires that could be bent to adjust the fit and the shape of the hat. I think this is in very good condition for how old it is.
