Japanese Emperor Meiji Satsuma Family Art .Enamel painting Art Lamp Early 1867-1912’s Total Tall 30” inches Age I and only guessing 1900-1912’s s\".signature. Japanese marks It doesHave Marks describes represent there signature under the bottom of the porcelain ceramics’ between and the metal base ,it is like a the Japanese signature , I tried to show it in the pictures. Vintage. Condition/Used. It is very old it shows in the ageing. Very little grazing, no chips or cracks only the one foot pedestal has been mending. And you can see it in the picture. It does not show or makes much difference in the lamp it self.. The base is metal Base it is a cast iron or another type of Metal casting. It is a heavy metal. Measurements: Height from the floor to the tip of the light socket is 16” inches. To the top of knob that screws The shade on. Slightly over Estimate 14” inches. Total inches tall 30“ inches. Width of the porcelain lamp Diameter around 22 “ inches. The Metal base width 6“¾” inches estimated. The lamp shade is good condition and is a silk and satin texture. Cream/Ivory color. The lamp and seam and fixture is all brass. Turn on and off switch is in the socket. Length of extension to plug it in 72” inches. Weight slightly under 7 Lbs. plusShipping. This region in southern Japan is around the Kagoshima region. The distinguishing features of Satsuma porcelain ceramics are they have an ivory, creamy or off-white and sometime beige appearance. The pottery is then hand painted with brightly colored design over glazed enamels, browns ,oranges, Gilden gold and silver, in fine, intricate designs with careful attention to detail. They typically feature scenes from Japanese Cultures, life, animals, flowers or landscapes. Gods, Goddesses and dragons are also well Represented ,design called moriage, which is a term used to describe the use of raised enamel on the surface of Japanese Satsuma pottery which lends an added effect to the pieces.Questions or opinion welcome through message.
