Item origin: from \"The Henry Collection\":
The Gentleman, Henry, who owned this item wasa young teenager during the WWII period, growing upin a German neighborhood in Queens, NY.
He had rheumatic fever when small, which left him with an enlarged heart. The doctors told his parents thathe wouldn\'t live to see his twelfth birthday. His illness left him unableto join neighborhood kids in more strenuous activity. He immersed himselfin more sedentary hobbies such as stamp and coin collecting, models and raisingtropical fish which proved very lucrative. He was a model railroadingenthusiast and built the buildings on the layouts himself, adding tremendousdetail.
Due to his German heritage, hereceived gifts from extended family members in Europe. He was an only child and cared for his toyswith attention to detail.
Despite his condition, he lived a much longerlife than the doctor’s predicted and passed away at age 60 in 1983. He lefteverything to his companion, my friend’s mother. The familycarefully removed most of these items from his home in Queens, and has keptthem in storage for over 30 years.
