Here are a pair of vintage Folk Art Bottle Cap Men who appear ready to celebrate the holidays with clusters of red and green Christmas balls in their metal green bowls. As similar as these two appear, there are a number of differences from the size of sparkle used to kids of hoop rings they wear. But both are a light mint green color with silver sparkle. Wooden construction with metal bowls. They both have some dust, rust, tarnish, and scrapes from handling and storage. They may lean a little forward but are sturdy enough to hold their bowls of balls. Each measures approximately 13 1/2 inches tall. It is said that Bottle Cap Men were craft projects in the 1950s and 60s done by Cub scouts or Brownies or other groups conducting organized activities. Typically these are blockhead type cut outs, with bowls attached to hands and atop their heads and commonly seen holding plastic fruit. No plastic fruit is included in this sale. Details are hand-painted and enhanced with thumb tacks and hoop rings. They get their name from the bottle caps which make up their arms and legs. Rarely do you see two alike.
