Listed is a very cool, carved canoe prow of a crocodile from the Sepik River, New Guinea. The canoe prows (front of canoe) of these indigenous people were carved in the from of crocodiles to protect the canoer while traveling down the crocodile infested rivers. This particular one (I have others) is unusual having a painted flower on the back of it\'s head, and at each corner of it\'s jaw. The prow measures 18\" long, 5.5\" long, made of wood with realistically carved features; teeth, eyes, scalation, etc. Typically when the canoe was no longer serviceable, the prow was cut off and save, usually sold to tourists. A cool and rarely seen object of indigenous art. I will be listing as many as 5 of these if this one sells for at least what I have in it. I will be listing a bunch of miscellaneous items,ranging from carved wooden Baule colonial figures, old crocodile prows from the Sepik River, old american indian item, alebrijes, etc. A group of interesting items.
