A cathedral window quilt is not the same as a traditional quilt. It earns its title from not including the backing or batting, and consists basically of the patchwork top with edging. Window panes are traditionally made from muslin or cheesecloth to create the translucent and light look generated from windows.
This quilt was purchased about 15 years ago and kept in storage. It is handmade and was purchased in the North Carolina mountains from the quilter who made it. She said it took her a year to make. She also said she would never make another one again because it was so time consuming. I also purchased the one pillow sham. She only had one available.
This quilt is very, very heavy. It can be used as quilt or wall hanging. I had purchased it to use as a wall hanging in a large great room with 12\' ceilings.
