Lovely Vintage Collectible CHALKWARE BOOKEND
\"Singing Russian Cossack Playing The Accordion\"
Stamped P.D. And Co. 1944
Absolutely wonderful for age- colors vibrant, detail excellent- big blousy Cossack sleeves with folds, hands gripping accordion, realistic expression on face. Paintwork really nice- deep oxblood red, deep rich teal, and a textured pebbled surface behind the figure for depth.
Has original felt on baseto protect surfaces
VERY Collectible- this is a RARE one!
A great size for abookshelf or mantle, etc.... usable as book end but also niceto display
Size Approx. 6.5\" Tall, base is 5.25\" widex 3.75\" deep and has gently rounded corners
HEAVY, solid and well made
Very Good Condition- remarkable for age. No nicks chips cracks damage or repairs. Paint is gently worn where it has been handled over the years in a few areas, which only adds to the vintage charm. Mainly on top of accordion. See pics.
Photo of the back of piece which shows a wavy line across the top is NOT a crack- it is simply a glaze line from the painting process. This piece is not flaking or cracking in any way.
First 2 photos taken in indoor light arevery true to color- the piece is VERY richly colored w/ a golden tint.
A super piece, they just do not make beautiful things like this anymore and this is a charmer.
